Summary

Temple, TX -  The Senior Coordinator facilitates program administration for the School of Medicine (SOM) Central Education division to satisfy accreditation standards. This position works with a high level of autonomy, must exercise discretion with high volumes of complex, confidential information, and must demonstrate a proven ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, screen and prioritize communications and opportunities from external and internal sources, and organize and maintain administrative processes. The Senior Coordinator works independently, but will also interact directly with the Clerkship directors, faculty and preceptors to facilitate academic activities during the clinical phase of the curriculum and are the first point of contact for students on rotation.
 
 

Job Duties

•    Manages operational activities to ensure that program objectives and accreditation requirements are met.
•    Collaborates with the clerkship director to plan, operate, and evaluate student experiences.
•    Oversee the distribution and collection of medical student evaluations.
•    Participates in the recruitment and onboarding of prospective clinical preceptors.
•    Coordinates assignment, scheduling and reporting of student experiences in all phases of the clerkship.
•    Proctors high stakes exams for medical education students.
•    Prepares, distributes, and communicates clerkship course schedules and materials to students and faculty.
•    Update and produce the student Orientation packet.
•    Secures and coordinates instructional space for meetings and events.
•    Collaborates with the Evaluation, Assessment and Educational Research team for assessment and quality improvement in obtaining, distributing, and archiving student evaluations.
•    Implements and coordinates all Core Clerkship rotations including various activities within each rotation.
•    Serves as a resource to students in resolving scheduling and preceptor challenges.
•    Thoroughly understands the curricular goals, policies, and standards of the clerkship, department, and medical school.
•    Identifies opportunities to improve effectiveness and mobilize faculty, staff and resources to support the delivery of a high-quality educational experience.
•    Coordinates and supervises the various functions and aspects of a specific program as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures.
•    May manage multiple education programs.
•    May supervise other program staff. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 2 years of experience of experience in medical education.
