Job Description

Summary
This is a dual role between the U-M Electric Vehicle Center (EVC) and Economic Growth Institute (EGI). The EVC brings researchers, educators, and industry together to advance the technology and train the talent needed to realize the EV future in Michigan and beyond. The EVC builds on more than a century of U-M leadership in transportation and mobility. The EVC's strategy is supported by four strategic pillars: Technology & Innovation, Education, Workforce Development, and Facilities Expansion. These pillars are bolstered by a foundational commitment to operational Excellence and Collaboration, driven by our Core Values. These elements collectively form a robust framework for addressing the needs of our stakeholders in industry, education, government, and the public sectors. EGI leverages the University of Michigan and other public/private resources, research, technologies, and expertise to foster innovation and equitable economic growth. EGI transforms these resources into community and business assistance, support, and intervention programs. EGI leads the workforce development pillar of the EVC.

The EVC is seeking a Project Lead Manager for its Workforce Development pillar. 75% of the position will support the EVC's Workforce Development and Education pillars. This role will manage the workforce and education project initiatives and strategy that have been established for 2024 including innovative tools and training programs to address industry's needs. 25% of this role will be dedicated to the Michigan Vehicle Technology Transition Impact Project (MiVTTP) at EGI, which will provide workforce development programs to communities in Michigan to address workforce needs due to decarbonized transportation. The project supports DOE's objective of Community Engagement, Outreach, Technical Assistance, and Training in Underserved Communities. The project is sponsored through the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) on behalf of the Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO).
