The Counseling Center assists NC State students experiencing personal, academic or vocational problems. The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide students with professional counseling services and outreach to help them cope with issues that may impede successful academic performance. The Counseling Center also offers crisis intervention and psychological/ psychiatric assessment as well as consultation with others who have concerns about the mental/ emotional state of NC State students. Our services are primarily short term in nature and we make referrals to other helping professionals and community agencies as appropriate. Members of the counseling center commit to:

The purpose of Campus Health is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible members of the campus community including students, staff and faculty, in a compassionate and caring manner. The major function of the clinic is that of providing outpatient care to the 34,000+ NC State students and limited services to faculty and staff.

Essential Job Duties
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) is assigned primarily to assist Medical Providers with basic patient care, obtain and record pertinent medical health information, maintain patient data, and perform basic patient care tasks, and performs treatment under the close supervision of a registered nurse or Advanced Practitioner.

This individual answers the telephone and takes action according to the request. Schedules appointments according to unit guidelines and provider’s directives.

The CMA/RMA is responsible for maintaining needed supplies in assigned exam rooms, assisting patients with check in at the kiosk, referrals, follow-up appointments, and specific instructions as indicated by the provider. The CMA/RMA assists the RN and prepares patients for examination, chaperones and assists the provider, as needed.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in fire, code blue and emergency preparedness drills.

Must report to work during Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Necessary Special Qualification Requirements – Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

Other Required Qualifications
Completed Medical Assistant training program that is accredited by the accrediting bureau of Health Education School (ABEHES) or the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) and must have certification by the American Association of Medical Assistant.
Knowledge of Electronic Records.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong communication skills.
Appreciation of needs of college age population (patient expectations are very high).
BLS CPR Certificate
Clinical competencies under scope of practice including venipuncture, EKG, Nebulizer, ear irrigation, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a medical clinic.

Required License or Certification
Completed Medical Assistant training program that is accredited by the accrediting bureau of Health Education School (ABEHES) or the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) and must have certification by the American Association of Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

CPR Certification within 30 days of employment.
