College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Investigator and Research Manager and following established policies and procedures, the research associate focuses on grant preparation and submission, data analysis, and dissemination activities. Will provide technical support to the Investigator(s) and Research Manager.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Research Studies: Recruit subjects; Schedule subject visits; Assist in obtaining informed consent; Data collection, entry, and quality control; Follow-up as needed with research subjects; May order and maintain study specific materials, such as supplies. Maintain related clinical research documents (i.e. study subject files, IRB information, adverse events, protocol changes, regulatory binders, source documents).

Grant Preparation: Conduct literature searches and write literature reviews; coordinate grant writing among research team members; coordinate grant proposal submission.

Dissemination: Coordinate research writing teams; manage study dissemination plans; prepare abstracts and manuscripts for submission.

Community Prevention: Attend required meetings and webinars; Assist in community needs assessment, capacity building, planning, implementation of selected strategies, and evaluation of programs; Assist in identifying and communicating with community stakeholders and sites; Maintain outstanding relationships with community partners; Attend meetings with community partners. Assist in preparing required reports monthly.

Training: Attending staff training and research meetings. Participating in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles.

Compliance: Implements established quality measures to assure compliance.

Other: Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.



SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: R14

Salary: $36,197/Annually - $38,000/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
