In collaboration with Human Resources functional leaders and reporting to the Senior Director of HR Technology and Analytics, the Business Analyst serves as a strategic member of the HR Technology and Analytics team providing input and guidance on all aspects of HR information systems to insure a full service, integrated information services function for Virginia Tech.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Identify, implement, and support campus-wide information technology systems and applications used in the Division of Human Resources.
• Identify and implement system changes and development efforts designed to enhance and further promote operational efficiencies.
• Lead collaborative IT projects from conception, through execution, to successful completion and implementation, achieving stated goals, objectives, and deliverables.
• Analyze HR business processes for continuous improvement of customer service, quality of operations, and dependability.
• Design, generate or develop sustainable queries, reports and documentation reducing redundancy of work and ensuring data integrity.
• Ensure institutional and regulatory security directives are followed to protect systems, data, and institutional information.
• Serve as a project manager as required.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree or Bachelor’s degree with experience and/certifications equivalent to an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated collaborative skills, working with others to achieve desired outcomes in a cooperative, agile, team-based environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources process flows across the employee life cycle (i.e. recruitment, onboarding, benefits, performance management, retirement)
• Experience in launching and supporting enterprise-wide software solutions such as complex ERP and HCM solutions (e.g. Oracle, Workday, SAP, or similar platforms).
• Experience leading business process improvement initiatives within a large organization through examination and reengineering of operations and procedures and implementing new strategies.
• Proven ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to nontechnical staff.
• Demonstrated excellence providing exceptional customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources process flows across the employee life cycle (i.e. recruitment, onboarding, benefits, performance management, retirement)
• Experience in launching and supporting enterprise-wide software solutions such as complex ERP and HCM solutions (e.g. Oracle, Workday, SAP, or similar platforms).
• Experience working in human resources within higher education.
• Experience identifying customer requirements and managing system and application development, implementation, or configuration activities.
• Experience in training users, formally or informally, and creating both technical and end-user documentation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements for data in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evolving HR technology trends.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
