What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Year-Round, Industrial Engineering Graduate Intern to join our dynamic team!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Support activities for stochastic simulation, production floor layout, data visualization, and optimization projects
  • Help the Industrial Engineering Team with gathering and analyzing data to help inform decisions
  • Work on other projects determined by organizational needs and individual interests
  • Assist multiple production floors with questions and issues, and learn about their processes

Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program studying Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Understanding of discrete-event simulation, optimization, and/or data analysis tools
  • MS Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Experience and interest in discrete-event simulation (FlexSim, Simio, Arena, etc.), linear optimization (Gurobi, CPLEX, etc.), interfacing with structured databases for data mining, analysis, and visualization (Python, SQL, VBA, Minitab, R, etc.), and/or facility or floor layout optimization (AutoCAD, Visio, etc.)
  • Attention to Detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

About Our Team:

The Purchased Product Value Stream 3 (PPVS3), Org. 07561, oversees industrial engineering, production stores, and materials operations that support the Neutron Generator (NG) Enterprise and other NW production partners. PPVS3 works in a high-consequence operational envelope encompassing classified materials, precious metals, closed areas, chemicals, explosives, and radioactive materials. The organization is responsible for assuring the integrity and traceability of weapons material though the logistics supply chain which includes receiving, incoming acceptance, warehousing, inventory management, material movement, and shipping. PPVS3 is also responsible for the design, development, testing, and delivery of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliant packaging solutions and operations engineering as well as the planning for the build of packaging kits and NG disassembly activities. The organization also supervises the planning, coordination and execution of outbound customer shipments. Finally, the PPVS3 Industrial Engineering team provides visibility and insight for our production partners by leveraging data-driven modeling and analysis solutions to increase operational efficiency, effectiveness, and customer confidence.

Security Clearance:
