Job Summary

The Chief Informatics & Technology Officer (CITO) is charged with expanding Moffitt's ecosystem from within and outside of healthcare to deliver on consumer-oriented, real world solutions for clinical practice, research and administrative processes essential to support growth, competitive advantage, and define the future. The role is responsible for identifying the most strategic and expedited path to deliver novel, value driven products to transform Moffitt's clinical and non-clinical operations. The Chief Informatics & Technology Officer is responsible for defining a plan to enable a data driven approach to the selection and implementation of information and technology infrastructure, products and services throughout the organization.

Minimum Experience Required

10 years of progressive leadership experience as a proven leader in the area of technology and information systems within a large, complex organization.

Strong innovative and operational acumen with the ability to lead and partner around a vision for outstanding healthcare delivery.

Highly-effective leader who can both sit at the executive table, and relate to interdisciplinary teams at all levels of the institution.

Position Duties

  • Collaborate with VP, Chief Data Officer; Clinical Informatics leader; EVP, Physician in Chief; VP, Ambulatory and Virtual Care Operations; EVP, Chief Operating Officer; EVP, Center Director; and VP, Chief Medical Officer to evaluate opportunities for health products to transform care delivery and the patient/clinician experience.
  • Collaborate with VP, Chief Data Officer, Clinical Informatics leader and other leaders to ensure accuracy, validity and consistency of data sources for measurement.
  • Collaborate with the EVP, Physician in Chief and EVP, Center Director to ensure the IT road-map is aligned with clinical and research strategy.
  • Collaborate with the VP, Chief Data Officer and Clinical Informatics leader to ensure the IT strategy is aligned to the Data and Clinical Informatics strategy.
  • Collaborate with the VP, Chief Information Officer to ensure products and services are meeting the Moffitt enterprise technology standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee the daily activities; focus on maximizing effectiveness and efficiency for products and services within the IT portfolio.
  • Administer and coordinate preparation of annual budgets within IT and monitor financial management.
  • Work with the EVP, Chief Administrative & Financial Officer to establish standards, goals and metrics for IT at Moffitt.
  • Participate in overall business planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of IT and Business Development as related to Moffitt's competitive position.
  • Incorporate findings from the annual employee survey and patient experience surveys to help inform the IT strategy.
  • Determine recruitment needs for the department and communicate them to the SVP, CHRO.
  • Evaluate and develop the organization structure within the department, restructuring the discrete functions and defining the consultative talent model.
  • Develop a people development strategy for IT as it grows, including training, career growth and recruitment.
  • Anticipate and act on emerging healthcare trends to position Moffitt for the future, in conjunction with other system leaders.
  • Maximize existing talent by providing counsel, leadership, guidance, direction, and assisting in the development of an organizational culture appropriate to support the mission of MCC. Employ participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources, talent effectiveness and engagement. Empower others to exercise leadership in achieving goals, developing new concepts and taking initiative.
  • Be a steward of the culture by demonstrating and modeling leadership behaviors.
  • Promote, act and collaborate as a unified leadership team to drive system alignment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, MCC Compliance Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
  • Manage and oversee team performance through performance planning, coaching and performance appraisals.
  • Hold direct reports accountable for managing and developing their assignments to ensure goals are achieved and patients and staff are satisfied.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to team members to ensure they develop the skills and competencies required for effective planning and individual professional and personal career growth.
  • Motivate and inspire team members by providing them with the information and tools they need to do their jobs well and meet patient expectations.
  • Manage performance issues, discipline as necessary and address poor standards, ensuring patient satisfaction is not compromised.
