Responsibilities
The laboratory of Dr. Brian Coon in the Cardiovascular Biology Research Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is seeking postdoctoral scientists.
The Coon lab studies the physiological relationship between vascular biomechanics and homeostasis, and how the disruption of these circuits contributes to vascular diseases. We are multidisciplinary and welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds. After an initial selection period, applicants will be invited to discuss projects that leverage their scientific interests and technical strengths to address critical questions in vascular biology. Examples of our current projects include the study of - novel mouse genetic models of human diseases, genetic and biochemical drivers of vascular remodeling, crosstalk between mechanotransduction and metabolism pathways, and cell state transitions.
OMRF is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institute. The innovative basic and translational research at OMRF covers critical areas such as cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, aging, and cancer. OMRF has made The Scientist magazine’s annual list of the “Best Places to Work for Postdocs” for many years. The institute offers postdoctoral fellows an exceptional research and training environment with state-of-the-art facilities and outstanding core technology laboratories including imaging, next-gen and spatial sequencing, and clinical genomics. Throughout their tenure, postdocs will be offered scientific and career development support through both Dr. Coon and institutional programs. This may include a faculty mentoring committee, grants and manuscript writing, and travel awards to attend international meetings and workshops.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or Related area; M.D.; or equivalent. Technical proficiency and work ethic.
