The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is one of the oldest gastroenterology divisions in the nation. The division includes sections of luminal gastroenterology, hepatology/ liver transplant medicine, pancreatology, advanced endoscopy and nutrition. The faculty of the Division of Infectious Diseases is among the national leaders in basic science research in infectious diseases, the care of patients with HIV infections, tuberculosis and global health clinical care, education and research.



The Division of Diseases is seeking to fill a full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position to provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care. Primary responsibilities will include clinical inpatient services and care coordination at West Chester Hospital. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will facilitate the delivery of care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations, as an independent provider in the ambulatory sites.

Essential Functions
Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
Participate in research and development projects.
Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.

Required Education
For Nurse Practitioner:

A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.


For Physician Assistant:

Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
Required Trainings/Certifications
For Nurse Practitioner:

Current/valid APRN license in the state of Ohio prior to start. 


For Physician Assistant:

Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Current/Valid license in the state of Ohio prior to start.
Required Experience
For Nurse Practitioner:

Three (3) years nursing experience.


For Physician Assistant:

One (1) year experience.
