Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's in nutrition, dietetics or related field and three or more years of related experience. Registered Dietitian (RD) certification and eligible for licensure in State of Kentucky. Knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations. Ability to travel and work hours on nights, weekends and holidays. Grade 6.

Position Description:

The Supervisor, Sports Nutrition oversees Sports Nutrition for the University of Louisville Football program. The Supervisor, Sports Nutrition for Football will serve as an integral member of the Department’s inter disciplinary health care team and will collaborate with Student Athlete Health and Performance Team, Coaches, Mental Health Personnel, and Campus Dining, to bring high level comprehensive, practical, and evidence-based performance nutrition, healthcare, and lifetime wellness services for University of Louisville Football Student Athletes. The Supervisor, Sports Nutrition for Football reports directly to the Senior Manager, Sports Nutrition.

The Supervisor, Sports Nutrition for Football will have a wide range of clinical and administrative daily responsibilities to include individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education; documentation and analysis of performance nutrition outcomes and metrics; rest, recovery, and regeneration, and injury risk stratification program development and implementation; testing and evaluation; data entry, interpretation, and report generation; daily interaction, communication, and relationship building with Student Athlete Health and Performance Team, coaching personnel, athletic administration, and campus dining; assisting with various administrative duties; and performing other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct lectures, seminars, and workshops on sports nutrition to football student athletes and coaches, including pre-season nutrition overviews. May include recruiting presentations as requested.
  • Assist the Senior Manager, Sports Nutrition with nutrition education initiatives, utilizing a variety of platforms, including grocery store tours, cooking demonstrations, print material and social media.
  • Coordinate body composition assessments, utilizing the data in conjunction with other assessment skills and sports science tools to interpret the data, and counsel student athletes on strategies to maximize health and performance.
  • Develop and administer comprehensive sports specific performance nutrition counseling and education for football student athletes, inclusive of individual, small group, and team education, and athletics staff education.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with immediate supervisor and staff members who work within the University of Louisville football program.
  • Provide personalized pre and post competition meals, both at home and on the road, including but not limited to hotel meals, charter meals, and buffet meals during holidays.
  • Assist with reviewing the annual football nutrition budget and ensuring budgetary compliance through efficient financial management.
  • Coordinate the Athletics Dining initiatives, including the management and development of sports specific performance menus, pre and post activity fueling design, Athletics Dining facility coordination and management, and serving as a liaison to the Athletics Dining vendor and Campus Dining representatives.
  • Provide care based on standard Commission on Dietetic Registration guidelines as directed by a physician, and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and credentialing requirements of the Commission on Dietetic Registration. 
  • Coordinate the organization, administration, inventory, and staffing of football fuel station areas. 
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and hiring of highly qualified individuals to support the Health and Performance team.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the NCAA, ACC Conference, University of Louisville, and University of Louisville Department of Athletics. 
  • Participation in Football team meetings and other committees, groups, special projects, and/or other initiatives as assigned. 
  • Contribute to the development of an environment for football team members and student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and culturally diverse.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for football program. 
  • Assist the Senior Manager, Sports Nutrition with all tasks for which he/she is responsible and assist with the management, operation, and general administration in his/her absence. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Nutrition, dietetics or related field.
  • Experience in collegiate Division I program.
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, CSSD or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CSCS.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
