Position Description

The Department of Psychology at Rider University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin on September 1, 2024. The individual who fills this position will be a core member of our accredited BCBA Master’s in Applied Psychology, and will also have responsibilities to our undergraduate major in psychology. Core responsibilities include teaching, scholarship, and service to the Department, University and professional community. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusiveness in their teaching and professional activities.

Candidates will be expected to teach a combination of undergraduate (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Learning Theory, etc.) and graduate courses (e.g., Functional Assessment, Single Subject Research, etc.). The regular teaching load is three courses per semester. Oversight of thesis and practicum experiences will also be required. Candidates are advised to view our departmental web page to familiarize themselves with our curriculum and identify their preparation for specific undergraduate or graduate courses.

Candidates must outline a comprehensive research agenda and a commitment to disseminating their research in terms of publishing, conference presentations, and other professional outlets.

The faculty responsibilities in the graduate program includes advising students regarding course work, field placement, and certification requirements as well as oversight of thesis and practicum experiences. The individual filling this position will assist with development and oversight of curriculum based on requirements by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI). Additionally, the faculty member will participate in community development activities including partnerships, behavior analytic lecture series, and relationships with community members that may act as resources for the program. Faculty will be expected to participate in departmental and college committees, maintain office hours, and work collaboratively and productively with colleagues.

The Department of Psychology is a large and vibrant program of undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty in the department represent a variety of interests within the discipline, and we are a collaborative community dedicated to the support of student success.

Position Requirements

  • Must possess a Ph.D.
  • Must be a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Demonstrated ability to required courses.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience to meet overall and specific position responsibilities

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Doctoral level BCBA (BCBA-D)
  • Candidates with prior teaching and practicum supervision experience
