Under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance for the Brown Cancer Center (BCC), the primary job duties include assisting BCC departments and/or outside with sponsored program financial related activities to include monthly speedtype reconciliations, expense and charge transfers problem resolution. This role will be largely focused on payroll funding changes which include program and sponsored program funding sources. This position will maintain sponsored program expense encumbrances based on information provided by the department and award documentation, and perform a careful review and analysis of monthly sponsored program speedtype financial statements working with BCC and outside department contacts to ensure adjustments and corrections are processed, as needed. Ad hoc reports will be provided to department in a timely manner, as requested. The position will exercise general accounting control and verification over a number of programs and grants which includes, but is not limited to, conducting monthly reconciliations and/or audits of reconciliations. Troubleshoot and identify any issues within the BA4 and University systems. Investigate and verify charges are appropriate. Guide and assist other BCC Business Office team members.
This position will be responsible for communication with various departments on the status of funding changes as well as relaying any pertinent information to assist in the processing of funding change requests. This position also assists other BCC Business Office team members or serves as backup, when needed. It will assist in training new personnel, as requested, and complete projects, as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
Financial reconciliation and reporting experience.
Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word) knowledge and experience.
Active listening and strong oral comprehension skills including positive tone, clear diction and good grammar.
Excellent written communication skills.
Quality customer service experience.
Skilled in organizing and prioritizing tasks.
Detail oriented.
Proactive problem solver.
Extensive knowledge and experience in using PeopleSoft Financials, University Reports, Workday and PET process.
Knowledgeable in University financial policies and procedures related to reconciliations, budgets, and cash receipts.
Familiarity with federal guidelines affecting sponsored programs.
Experienced in reconciling using BA.
