The Rider University community is composed of faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

The Department of Media Arts at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of screenplay fundamentals and script writing for the spring semester beginning January 22, 2024. These positions are to teach FTV 238-HH Screenplay Fundamentals; and FTV 339-OL1 Developing the Feature-Length Script.

Position Requirements

FTV 238-HH Screenplay Fundamentals.
Must be a demonstrated experienced screenwriter, having written multiple feature and short film scripts, and must have had at least one feature or multiple short films produced. Must be proficient in Final Draft writing software.


FTV 339-OL1 Developing the Feature-Length Script:
Seeking a screenwriter with demonstrated professional experience developing and writing feature length narrative features or television programs. Demonstrated professional experience developing works for studios or production companies a plus. Must have had at least one full-length script produced.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

FTV 238-HH Screenplay Fundamentals:
Participation in a professional writing program such as a BFA in Filmmaking, Screenwriting or Creative Writing or other professional writing workshops. Experience in other parts of production (directing, producing, editing). Experience writing short films is a plus. Some experience teaching in higher education.

FTV 339-OL1 Developing the Feature-Length Script:
Participation in a professional writing program such as a BFA in Filmmaking, Screenwriting or Creative Writing or other professional writing workshops. Experience in other parts of production (directing, producing, editing). Some experience teaching in higher education.
