Salary: Grade 7 Research and Innovation Development Officer (£37,099 - £44,263 p.a.) or Grade 8 Research and Innovation Manager (£45,585 - £54,395 p.a.). 

It is possible to be appointed to this role at University of Leeds grade 7 (Officer level) or grade 8 (Manager level) depending on experience. Please indicate in your application form which level you are applying at.  

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

We are looking for a professional and proactive individual to support research and innovation development across healthcare technologies, working with the Centre for HealthTech Innovation (CfHTI): https://www.leeds.ac.uk/centre-for-healthtech-innovation; a joint initiative between the University and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to accelerate the development and adoption of new health technologies. Research and innovation activities in this area span fundamental basic science, through to applied biomedical and health research across multiple faculties including e.g. Medicine and Health, Engineering and Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences.

You will play a key role working alongside other Research and Innovation Development professionals to develop and support new strategic opportunities in biomedical and health associated research and innovation that will maximise research impact and grow external income. You will identify new national and international funding and impact opportunities and support academic staff to develop successful interdisciplinary and translational research and innovation proposals.

You will need to quickly establish a University-wide profile, forge strong links with key academics, and build networks across the University and externally. You will work in partnership with other Research and Innovation Development professionals within the Research and Innovation Service to ensure that the highest quality proposals are developed, providing a coordinated service across a full range of research, innovation and industry engagement activities. You will need to work effectively as part of multiple dynamic teams that can operate effectively in a complex and changing environment. 

You will also provide support across the full range of research funders (including the UK Research Councils, NIHR, charities, international funder and institutionally held Impact Acceleration Accounts). 

The successful candidate will have the capability to develop research and innovation proposals in complex organisations incorporating external partners they will have excellent project management skills and the ability to build performance-based partnerships alongside experience of working with academic teams in the development of successful external funding applications. 

While the role will initially provide support for the area as described above, the focus of the role may evolve in time to cover a wider health and/or technology remit, continuing to utilise the key skills described below in an area of strategic importance to the University.
