Job Description

The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities is a residential school for academically gifted high school juniors and seniors. The Indiana Academy is located on the campus of Ball State University. This is a full-time contract position for the academic year that is renewable based on satisfactory job performance. Primary responsibilities include teaching mathematics classes at a level challenging for gifted high school students, including honors classes ranging from advanced algebra through differential equations and AP classes in calculus and statistics; teaching an interdisciplinary seminar or advising students; serving on various committees. Course load and class scheduling follow a collegiate model. Indiana Academy faculty, ranked in the top 15 in the nation among public high school faculty, have the opportunity to create new, unique courses based on their specializations. Faculty work together across disciplines to provide a one-of-a-kind education to Indiana’s high-ability students that include AP, dual-credit, and specialty courses.

Anticipated assignments are 4 sections per semester of survey or topical courses in American Literature, World Literature, rhetoric, and composition courses, in addition to Colloquium and service requirements. The final course load is determined by student needs and teacher experience. Faculty work together across disciplines to provide a one-of-a-kind education to Indiana’s high-ability students that includes AP, dual-credit, and specialty courses.

Minimum Experience:

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mathematics or related field; previous teaching experience at the secondary level or undergraduate collegiate level.

Preferred Experience:

Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mathematics or related field; significant previous teaching experience at the secondary level or undergraduate collegiate level.
