Position Summary

Performs all consultation, follow-up, treatment planning-and diagnostic imaging scheduling procedures within the Radiation Oncology department in both ARIA and EPIC scheduling systems. Scheduling process includes submission of insurance authorization, as well as confirming with the patient, procedure specific instructions. Coordinates outside imaging studies with respect to treatment planning appointments, with notification of all involved parties. Checks patients in for appointments in both ARIA and EPIC notifying the appropriate staff of the patient arrival. Coordinating patient appointment visits with the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinators, with appointment entry in ARIA and EPIC Provides patient and visitors with a cheerful greeting as they enter and leave the department.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Performs assigned duties in the Radiation Therapy Clinic, including scheduling of all appointment visits in ARIA and EPIC scheduling systems.

· Works with BMT Nurse Coordinators on the scheduling of all TBI patient activities.

· Maintains accuracy of appointment scheduling in ARIA and EPIC for all patient appointments.

· Ensures that treatment planning information is prepared and available to the CT Simulation Staff in advance of the patient appointment.

· Works with outside departments in the coordination of imaging and treatment planning appointments.

· Checking patients in for all radiation visits.

· Displays professional attitude and appearance.

· Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and follows safety practices in work areas. Assists with telehealth visits to include but not limited to chart prep, contacting patient prior to appointment, completing virtual rooming process, supporting patient during virtual visit, completing visit wrap-up, scheduling test and off-site procedures where indicated, and charge reconciliation.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

· Training in specialty specific assisting a plus

· One year experience in primary care clinical assisting

· Experience performing lab test and processing lab and diagnostic study orders

Required Certification/Licensure:

· Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers from the American Heart Association
