Responsibilities
The Lee laboratory at the Cardiovascular Biology Research Program (CVB) of OMRF is seeking Postdoctoral Fellows to lead research projects. Our NIH-funded research program (https://leelab.omrf.org/) investigates mechanisms linking mitochondrial and NAD+ metabolism to pathogenesis of cardiometabolic diseases. Fellows will have access to resources and equipment for cardiac physiology and electrophysiology, metabolism, cardiomyocyte and mitochondrial function, proteomics, metabolomics, informatics and spatial transcriptomics from the Lee lab, CVB, CMRO-CoBRE (https://cellularmetabolism-cobre.omrf.org/), OMRF core facilities (https://omrf.org/research-faculty/core-facilities/) and collaborations.

Candidates must be self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic about their research career development. The Principal Investigator (PI) and the postdoctoral mentoring committee will be committed to prepare fellows for an independent research career. Candidates are expected to work independently and contribute intellectually to facilitate a stimulating environment within the research group and among research programs at OMRF. OMRF’s postdoctoral fellow association (https://omrf.org/about-omrf/education-outreach/postdoctoral-programs/postdoc-association/) seeks to enhance the training experience by providing scientific, social interaction opportunities and funds to support attendance at scientific meetings or workshops.

Successful candidates will have a recent doctoral degree (within 0-3 years or expect to receive the degree within a year) in cardiovascular physiology, biochemistry or related biomedical disciplines. First-authored publication(s) from the graduate work is expected. Prior research experience and publication(s) investigating cardiometabolic diseases in mouse model are required. Experience in echocardiography, electrophysiology and surgical techniques for heart disease is a plus.



Qualifications
Successful candidates will have a recent doctoral degree (within 0-3 years or expect to receive the degree within a year) in cardiovascular physiology, biochemistry or related biomedical disciplines. First-authored publication(s) from the graduate work is expected. Prior research experience and publication(s) investigating cardiometabolic diseases in mouse model are required. Experience in echocardiography, electrophysiology and surgical techniques for heart disease is a plus.  Essential Responsibilities:1.  Actively pursue research under the supervision of PI while developing skills for independent research2.  Organize, analyze, and summarize scientific literature3.  Formulate research questions, design and conduct experiments, and organize and analyze data4.  Communicate scientific data through manuscript writing and presentations 5.  Prepare proposals for fellowships and research grants
