Position Description

1. Drafting a written review of each graduating student’s dissertation prior to defense;
2. Reviewing proposed statistical protocol and study methodology to ensure conformance with intensive graduate-level training and high-impact research;
3. Directing students in data acquisition process from external institutions and staying current with training requirements related to human subjects research and data security.

Basic Qualifications

• Master's Degree required.
• 5 or more years of experience preferably in an academic research setting.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• PhD preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative background with at least 10 years of experience as a primary analyst of clinical trials, national registries, surveys, and administrative claims databases using statistical software packages: SAS, STATA, and R.
• Willingness to learn and adopt other statistical packages as needed on a case-by-case basis.
• At least 5 years of experience as a protocol statistician managing the progress of graduate-level students in completing dissertation work.
• At least 3 years of experience managing less-experienced analysts in the completion of their assigned responsibilities.
• Proven track record of high-level analytical contributions to clinical and outcomes research.
• Broad expertise in high-level biomedical quantitative analyses in advanced degree programs, including but not limited to the evaluation of clinical trials on both an individual and meta-analytic basis, modeling of hierarchical and epidemiological data, prediction methods in machine learning and data science, and causal inference.
• Expertise in statistical methods such as causal inference, program evaluation, experimental design, Bayesian data analysis, hierarchical/multilevel modeling, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
• Ability to take independent initiatives on projects outside the direct scope of job responsibilities.

This is a two-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position. 

This position is based in Boston and some in-person on-campus work will be required, and flexible/remote work is an option. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt.
