Job Description

The Program Associate for Outreach and Engagement will play a critical role in dramatically growing the Do Good Campus through cross-campus presentations, events, and experiences to expose, engage, and introduce all University of Maryland students to social impact, philanthropy, and civic engagement. The Program Associate will oversee classroom-based and campus-based interactive experiences to significantly grow the social impact ecosystem at University of Maryland. As a first touchpoint for students, the Program Associate will be engaged heavily in recruitment, relationship building, and interpersonal communication. The Program Associate will consistently identify opportunities to engage prospective and current University of Maryland students in social impact, philanthropy, and civic engagement. Additionally, the Program Associate will manage community building events for existing Do Good Institute program participants to foster connection, community, and relationship building.

Primary duties include project management, public speaking, presentation scheduling and facilitation, event planning and coordination, as well as ongoing, year-round duties such as application reviewer, presenter, spokesperson, staff advisor, and more.

This position does not have direct staff reports but may have the opportunity to schedule, train, and supervise student leaders and/or student workers. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work. This position reports to the Senior Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree and 1-2 years of professional experience.

- Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and oral communication skills
- Excellent recruitment, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively
with multiple stakeholders, particularly new and prospective student audiences
- Solid administrative and organizational skills to coordinate multiple, overlapping projects and
programs
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and set priorities, as well as cooperatively and
strategically in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to expand multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as
evidenced through: demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others;
demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with a diversity of people;
fostering equity and inclusion.
