Job Summary
The Office of Student Financial Aid at Augusta University is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and professional individual to provide excellent customer service directly to prospective students, returning students, and their families. This position is responsible for determining eligibility for all aspects of federal, state and institutional and other sources of student financial aid processed, and works closely with students and other parties who play a role in providing educational support for students. The Financial Aid Counselor 1 will support the persistence and retention of students receiving financial aid benefits through processing of required paperwork in a timely manner, advocating on behalf of the student when it is needed, and supporting the goals of the Enrollment Management Division and the Office of Student Financial Aid. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform verification processes to determine accuracy of FAFSA data. Contact student regarding outstanding or incomplete documents and provide counseling regarding financial aid eligibility. Resolution of invalid FAFSA and awarding holds. Counsel students and provide excellent customer service to students, parents, faculty, and staff. Assist with interpretation and implementation of federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures related to student financial aid programs. Backup for front desk and financial aid presentations (admissions events, orientations, etc.). Coordinate and do presentations at FAFSA events. Manage financial aid web page, on-line forms, marketing, and social media. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year financial aid or work related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to counsel students and provide excellect customer service. Ability to prioritize tasks, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and have a team work spirit. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff, faculty and other constituents. Willingness to travel to provide training and education. Maintain confidentiality. Knowledgeable of federal and state rules and regulations. Must use professional judgment and critical thinking when interpreting and applying federal and/or state regulations and guidelines governing the awarding of financial aid to students. Knowledgeable of Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Experience with public speaking and professional writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Pay Grade: 12
Salary Minimum: $15.06 - $18.50
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
