Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
​Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor of Community Medicine/ Public Health at the Department of Family & Community Medicine & Behavioral Sciences, the College of Medicine, to teach Community Medicine subjects for medical students within an integrated, problem-based curriculum.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Teach Community Medicine subjects (including Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Epidemiology) to medical students
Evaluate student's learning using various methods of assessments including MCQ, SAQ, portfolios, research-based assignments. etc.
Compiles, administers, and grades examinations
Advise students on academic, research and vocational matters
Active participation in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean
Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Prospective applicants holding at least MSc for Lecturer level and PhD for Assistant/Associate Professor level in Community Medicine/Public Health or another health-related field.

Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective lecturer-learner interactions during both one-on-one (student advising) and in group (classroom) sessions.
An outstanding record of academic performance and demonstrated expertise in community medicine/ public health.
Outstanding/ demonstrated ability in teaching community medicine/ public health subjects and its application.
Strong teaching skills in one or more subject within the prescribed curriculum and experience or evidence of potential.
Experience in preparing and delivering computer-assisted courses content to students.
Demonstrated experience in delivering training courses and conducting research related to medical education.
Membership in Public Health related bodies at the national and international levels.
Evidence of strong desire for continuous personal development.
Sincere interest in assisting each student within a diverse and multi-cultural community to maximize their academic, professional, and personal potential.
Team player that is motivated to strengthen and advance the department and the college.
Experience in applying advanced statistical methods to setting standards in students' assessment at the college.

Prospective applicants work experience:
At least 3 years teaching experience in higher education institutions, medical/health sciences.
Experience in Problem Based Learning is highly desirable.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
