Job Description

Position Overview

The Bod Lab (bodlab.mgh.harvard.edu) at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to study the role of B cells in cancer.
The role of B cells in cancer is complex and still not fully understood. While some studies suggest they play a critical role in promoting anti-tumor immunity, others report that they may contribute to relapse and metastasis. Our lab is dedicated to deciphering the landscape of B cell states within tumors, identifying specific subsets and their functionality. We aim to use cutting-edge genomic analysis, and computational methods to better understand B cell behavior and unlock new ways to harness the power of the immune system against tumors. Join us in uncovering the secrets of B cells in cancer and revolutionizing cancer treatment.

Scientific and Career Opportunities

A research summary can be found at the website above. In brief, we are studying the pleiotropic roles of B cells in cancer, from basic to translational aspects, with the goal of discovering new targets for cancer immunotherapies. Trainee wellbeing, including fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming culture, are the foremost priorities of the lab. Mentorship and career development are highly organized and critical aspects of our overall mission. Close collaboration with neighboring oncology, immunology or cancer immunology labs ensures a large, dynamic, and vibrant scientific network. The laboratory, with its focus on emerging areas of tumor models, multiomics and translational research, commitment to training and mentorship, and value of a fun and relaxed workplace, strives to advance future leaders in science and medicine and support their careers long-term.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct independent research on the role of B cells in cancer, including the development of new techniques and methods for studying B cells in cancer
• Collaborate with other members of the lab, as well as with clinicians and researchers from other institutions, to advance our understanding of B cell biology in cancer
• Participate in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments
• Present research findings at scientific meetings and conferences
• Write and publish scientific papers in high-impact journals
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in immunology, oncology, or a related field
• Strong background in immunology, B cell biology and/or cancer research
• Strong skills in flow cytometry, molecular biology, cell culture and experience with animal models and in vivo studies
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration

Application Instructions: To apply, please submit a CV, a cover letter, and the names and contact information of three references to Dr. Lloyd Bod ([email protected]).
