JOB SUMMARY:
As HR Generalist for the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL), you will be a part of a small yet essential team of human resources professionals responsible for a variety of HR programs for the division including recruitment, onboarding, payroll & benefits, and FMLA administration.

This position will assist the HR Director with implementing and evaluating HR program policies and procedures, serving as a central point of contact to employees, providing training and support for HR programs, and providing professional input and subject matter expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides human resources (HR) information and support to a work unit regarding more than one HR functional area to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and assists with work unit operational policy development.
20% Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
30% Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
20% Receives, responds to, and resolves employee questions and problems
5% Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
10% Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations
10% Payroll and benefits processing
5% FMLA administration
TASKS:
Oversee and coordinate recruitments and recruitment process at the WVDL
Maintain recruitment files
Oversee new employee onboarding and peer partner program
Oversee payroll and benefits programs
Provide counsel and analysis of personnel transactions including pay progression, promotion, base pay adjustments, lump sum payments, and position description updates
Administer FMLA and consult with HR Director/DDR as needed
Comply with WVDL safety and quality requirements (see Quality and Safety manuals)

EDUCATION:
Preferred
Associate's Degree
Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Prior experience working successfully with HR programs
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply human resources laws, rules, policies and guidelines
- Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills

WORK TYPE:
Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

APPOINTMENT TYPE, DURATION:
Ongoing/Renewable

SALARY:
Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 up to $70,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
