Job Description

Provides high level operational and technical support to the Director of the Advanced Diagnostics Laboratories and Pathology Vice-Chair of Molecular Diagnostics with specific focus on test validation, specimen logistics and process improvement. This individual will work closely with the laboratory section medical directors, technical managers and supervisors, and also external clients. The Pathology Operations Manager is tasked with improving operational effectiveness, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to budgets and financial resources. To this end, this position oversees a wide variety of operational, technical, and administrative functions. Major areas include technical assessments, coordination of general laboratory operational support, quality Improvement endeavors, and new program development. In addition, the Pathology Operations Manager will be responsible for the coordination of activities related to specimen transport and logistics between multiple Moffitt sites and Outreach clients.


The ADL Pathology Operations Manager should have a sound understanding of pathology-based laboratory technical and operational needs, regulatory compliance (such as CLIA, CAP, and FDA), test validation requirements, quality management processes, finance and budgeting, and project coordination. The position is required to directly manage staff and the administrative and operational day-to-day internal and client sample workflows, and external as well as internal pathology departmental projects, among other duties.

Minimum Required:
-3 years of working in a clinical laboratory technical

-technical setting with supervisory, operations management, or other project management experience required.

Preferred:
-5 years of working in a clinical laboratory setting with supervisory, operations management, or other project management experience preferred.

-Other administrative or managerial experience working in an academic department of Pathology highly desirable.
