Job Description

Overview

Responsibilities
The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF, www.omrf.org) is seeking talented investigators with expertise in metabolic and mitochondrial aspects of the biology of aging to join the Aging and Metabolism Research Program. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a vigorous independent research program that addresses issues relevant to the role of metabolism and bioenergetics in the basic biology of aging and age-related diseases. Successful candidates will receive an appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Member level (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor equivalents) in the Program as well as a generous, multi-year start-up package with significant sustained salary and research support.

OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research institute supporting five major interdisciplinary research programs. The Aging and Metabolism Research Program is a recently-reorganized and expanding department currently comprised of twelve faculty members investigating a variety of disease-related areas associated with the aging process, including musculoskeletal, neurological, metabolic, and cardiovascular disorders. Our facilities are located adjacent to the campus of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHealth) in Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. OMRF investigators enjoy close scientific interactions with the Geroscience Institute for Healthy Brain Aging and other OUHSC faculty and participate in OUHSC graduate programs. OMRF and OUHSC also house the NIA- funded Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center that provides unique research cores to support age–related research (http://aging.ouhsc.edu/)

The program is supported by significant equipment resources including multiple GS and LC mass spectrometry systems, equipment for metabolite, bioenergetics and reactive oxygen species analyses, and cellular, tissue, and small animal metabolic screening systems. OMRF also supports a state-of-the-art AAALAC accredited animal facility, a small animal MRI and MRS core facility, an extensive imaging core, and a next generation genomic sequencing facility. Additional information on the Aging and Metabolism Research Program can be found at the Program’s website (http://omrf.org/programs/aging-and-metabolism-research-program/). Other attractive aspects include comprehensive benefits and a collegial work environment with minimal didactic teaching responsibilities. Overall, OMRF is committed to creating an attractive position suitable for applicants with a proven track record of high quality funded research.

Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D., or Ph.D./M.D. and a minimum of 2 years relevant post-doctoral research experience or training.
