General Statement of Duties

Mount Wachusett Community College seeks an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching matters more than anything else in the pursuit of student success. This educator designs an innovative classroom culture that embraces diversity and fosters student empowerment. Building positive connections, the faculty member will create a sense of belonging that motivates students and strengthens their desire to learn.

A faculty member's workload shall consist of the following duties: instructional duties and non-instructional duties (i.e., office hours, college service, community service, and professional development).


Teaches courses as assigned by the Division Dean;
Participates in student assistance/advisement;
Maintains office hours;
Service activities (i.e., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.);
Consistent with the principles and standards of academic freedom and responsibilities, support the college's mission to infuse service learning and civic engagement into the classroom as applicable;
Participates in professional development activities.


Master's degree in Fine Art;
3-5 years of college teaching experience;
Active exhibition record and professional accomplishments;
Expertise in teaching all levels of drawing, painting, two-dimensional design, and introductory art courses;
Ability to work and teach in oil and aqueous painting mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, other);
Experience in using a digital camera and Photoshop for the development of portfolios;
Evidence of commitment to classroom teaching and learning;
Experience using Blackboard or similar learning management systems. Competency using programs such as Zoom, Microsoft Word and Google. Willingness to teach with online modalities as determined by departmental and college needs;
Ability and experience developing curriculum to meet institutional learning outcomes, with attention to transferability of foundation courses;
Ability to advise students to meet their goals, and to work effectively with a diverse student population;
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively in a comprehensive art program and sustain high standards and student success;
Ability to maintain studio equipment and supplies in design and painting studios;
Capable of contributing to maintaining social media accounts and website for art degree program;
Demonstrate a willingness to engage in art program events, recruitment, service learning & internship programs, student Art Club and transfer support for students.

Experience or skills in other disciplines such as printmaking, animation, illustration, and/or digital media;
Completed course in remote learning systems, such as Blackboard.

Additional Information:

Salary: Anticipated salary range is $44,168.00-$91,561.00 per year plus fringe benefits. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of the MCCC/MTA Agreement based on the candidate's academic credentials, related experience, related licenses and certifications.
