The Department of Art and Design seeks a motivated team-player specializing in Interactive Design with an emphasis on front-end web design. Primary responsibilities will be to teach beginning to advanced courses in Interactive Design, including beginning screen-based design and front-end web design courses. Fall 2021 teaching load will include three courses totaling 9 credits that are scheduled for asynchronous online delivery. Spring 2022 course load will be the same three courses with the option to modify delivery method to face-to-face, or hybrid.

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)
This position will advise undergraduate majors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in interactive design.
Required Qualifications
MFA or terminal degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Interactive Design, Art, or a related discipline with an emphasis in Graphic Design/Interactive Design.
Expertise with relevant technology and software.
Evidence of appropriate professional and/or creative activity in Interactive Design.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.
Demonstrated preparation to teach, advise, and support a wide variety of students.
Demonstrated ability to use technology, develop, and deliver hybrid and online courses.
Demonstrate potential for research, creativity or scholarly activity.
Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

The Department of Art and Design has over 200 majors, 12 faculty and several adjunct instructors. It offers the BFA, BA, BS, and MA degrees and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The university (14,000 students) is located in a city of 50,000 in the Southern Minnesota River Valley. It is a modern university with several new buildings and an increasing enrollment.
