Job Description


The Department Assistant II is responsible for providing a variety of advanced administrative, clerical, and financial support to the Executive Director for Human Resources. This position will also be responsible for providing professional level administrative, clerical, and financial support to the department which may include overseeing the processing of financial documentation, planning and development of accounting/budgetary relate issues, and preparing personnel and payroll documents. May oversee and give work direction to student workers. May provide coverage for front desk.


Responsible for providing general administrative support to the Executive Director for Human Resources.
Prepares and processes all accounting documents including vouchers, purchase requests, and travel related paperwork. Reconciles monthly departmental accounts.
Develops and maintains departmental databases and prepares recurring reports
Provides support for special events, projects, and programs in Human Resources.
Process personnel and payroll documents required for record keeping and other related HR documents.
Performs all other duties as assigned.



1. High School Diploma or GED.

2. Progressive work experience directly related to the duties required.

3. Proficient organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects on a strict timeline.

4. Human relations/interpersonal skills to convey technical concepts to others, to deal with sensitive and confidential information, to give instructions, and to facilitate discussions with individuals via face to face, telephone or email communication.

5. Work collaboratively with others and provide quality customer service in a diverse and inclusive environment.

6. Possess and utilize excellent verbal, interpersonal, communication, customer-service, and relationship-building skills. Work with and support academic departments, hiring managers, supervisors, and employees.

7. Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, ethnic and disability backgrounds of community college employees and students.

8. Strong analytical, creative problem solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing, and strategic decision-making skills.


Bachelor's degree.
