Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a new faculty member to join our Mechanical Engineering Program in the Division of Science.

A non-tenure track appointment is available on November 1st, 2020, at the rank of Lecturer in the Division of Science at IUPUC. The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with responsibility for teaching three sections each semester as well as maintaining the mechanical engineering lab and engaging in service activities at the campus.

IUPUC delivers the full undergraduate Mechanical Engineering curriculum for the ABET-accredited Purdue University BSME degree offered by the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Basic Qualifications
The division seeks highly qualified candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and experience with various engineering equipment. Candidates should have a master’s degree in an engineering discipline. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability and interest to work with a diverse student population. Candidates should have the desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.

Additional Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching engineering concepts in some form. Preference will also be given to applicants with experience with one or more of the following: testing of mechanical measurements and control systems (dynamic systems, instrumentation, controls, actuators, mechatronics, circuits), PTC Creo (or other computer-aided design software), NI LabVIEW, MATLAB, electrical circuits, machining tools such as lathe and mill, thermal-fluid systems, and testing of mechanical properties. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving under-represented populations and first-generation college students and a demonstrated commitment to student and community engagement. Successful teaching at the university level is preferred.
