The Matsuoka lab (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/cms/matsuoka/lab/) at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute seeks 1-2 research scholars to join our research team. We study the cellular and molecular basis of vascular and lymphatic assembly in the central nervous system (CNS) and meninges using the zebrafish model. Specific areas of research in our laboratory include: 1) fenestrated vs non-fenestrated brain vascular development; 2) the mechanisms driving the generation of brain vessel heterogeneity; 3) spatiotemporal regulation of CNS vascular patterning; and 4) congenital CNS vascular and lymphatic malformations.
We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of biological sciences, who wish to spend a few years in gaining basic research experiences before starting Ph.D. program or medical school. The successful applicants will get involved in several research projects ongoing in the lab and be expected to work on her/his independent projects under the PI’s supervision.
