Primary Purpose of the Position
The Director of Campus Life reports to the Dean of Experiential Education and is responsible for leading co-curricular programming which enriches the student collegiate experience in, but not limited to, the following areas: student leadership and service, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Government Association, Clubs/Organizations, Royal Court, Multicultural Affairs, Evening and Weekend Programs, Student Centers and Campus Activities Board. Programming provided by the Office of Campus Life is essential in supporting student engagement, leadership skills and development and implementing initiatives which increase student awareness and appreciation of campus and global diversity. The Director of Campus Life aligns co-curricular programming with the University’s strategic plan in order to promote student success, retention and persistence. The Director of Campus Life develops and monitors student activity fee budgets. This position serves in a senior leadership capacity and serves in the absence of the Dean of Experiential Education, when necessary. A willingness to work late evenings and weekends is necessary.

Student engagement improves the quality of the academic experiences in students, helps to increase retention and contributes to the strengthening of relationships between a University and its students. This position serves as a direct agent in this process.

This position is needed to provide administrative guidance and supervision of Campus Life programs and processes to support and execute the strategic co-curricular learning outcomes as outlined by the Division and the University.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of related experience in higher education/Student Affairs, at least two years in a management or director-level position.

• Must have extensive experience in student leadership program development and implementation.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in campus life operations.
• Demonstrated experience in hiring and leading professional staff and student employees.

• Must have extensive experience in budget management.

• Must be knowledgeable of assessment and data-driven decision making.

• Schedule requires frequent evening and occasional weekend working hours.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.

• Experience in operational planning, policy development, and outcome/needs assessment.

• Must be skilled in conflict resolution, crisis/risk management.

• Ability to effectively communicate, in written and oral format, to students, staff, professional colleagues, governing boards, and the general public
