Essential Job Duties
Primary duties of the Instrumentation and Testing Systems Lead include, but are not limited to:

Ensuring that all instrumentation-connected systems and specialty equipment are in appropriate networks, whether that is the building private IP ranges or limited access networks.
Regularly reviewing security scans for incorrect networking configuration and security issues.
Providing planning, testing, and implementation of new systems for attachment to production, testing, and data acquisition environments.
Assisting in the diagnostics and debugging of machine code for connected systems.
Configuration Management:

Reviewing and helping refine a comprehensive configuration management strategy across Windows, macOS, and Linux computers for the Wilson College of Textiles ensuring security, sustainability, and supportability.
Ensuring that each service is appropriately documented.
Tier 2/3 user support:

Providing consultation and tier 2/3 customer support for Wilson College of Textiles and University systems and technologies, including monitoring ServiceNow for help requests related to specialty systems used by faculty, staff and students at the Wilson College of Textiles.
Timely responses are needed with acknowledgment within a few hours of receiving the incident and establishing a reasonable time frame to resolve the incident based on the issues involved.
Other Work/Responsibilities
Tier 2 and 3 Help Desk Operations (40%):
Respond to assigned incidents in a timely, professional and prioritized manner. Assign tasks to appropriate staff if needed.

Specialized instrumentation testing and configuration (40%):
Work with faculty, staff and graduate students to get specialized equipment installed, configured and maintained within the security and operating limits of the university and vendor.

Faculty and Staff Solution Development (20%):
Consult faculty, staff and students on enhancing existing computing systems and policies. Develop new more efficient methods for training constituents on using technology. Examples would be developing new systems using Google Sheets to connect and gather data from existing software systems or web services.

Minimum Education/Experience
A Masters degree and at least one year of experience; OR a Bachelors and at least three years of experience.

Departmental Required Skills
Experience with Configuration Management Systems (SCCM, Puppet, JAMF Pro) on multiple operating systems.
Extensive knowledge of Active Directory and related information technology systems.
Experience with ServiceNow ITSM or similar product.
Understanding of core networking and security principles.
Experience with real time troubleshooting/debugging/monitoring tools (strace, Process Monitor, etc).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
At least 2 years experience with Windows client management technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, and Powershell.
Familiarity with php, javascript, and other web programming languages and version control systems.
Programming (Powershell, Labview, .Net) and version control (Git, GitHub) experience.
Experience with G-Suite or Office 365 cloud productivity platforms.
Familiarity with configuration management systems.
Understanding of multiple web and database server platforms
Understanding of core networking and security principles.
Experience in a heterogeneous environment consisting of Windows, Linux, and Mac systems.
