Job Description


The GME Director/Senior Manager oversees the day-to-day administrative operations for GME for the School of Medicine, including Medhub management, development of affiliate budget grids, development of policies and procedures, annual planning, and other job-related duties. 

The position reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education/Designated Institutional Official.

Job Purpose

Manages business operations for GME. Participates in department strategic planning activities. Oversees financial and human resources operations for the department.

Job Duties

• Manages and oversees the daily operation of GME education enterprise, human resources, compliance and financial management.
• Participates in department strategic planning activities; develops and implements business strategies. Oversees financial operations for GME, including budget development for the office and monitoring, financial analysis, financial reporting, and reconciliations. Additionally manages the budget grids for all ACGME residency programs at all affiliates.
• Manages and supervises the human resources activities for GME, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
• Responsible for the hiring, training, development, and evaluation of the department workforce.
• Oversees the supervision of departmental staff.
• Develops and implements process improvements, policies, procedures, and internal controls. Manages exempt and non-exempt employees, including defining job duties, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
• Formulates policies and guidelines for GME activities.
• Leads the creation, identification, and analysis of metrics to improve business performance and drive business actions.
• Oversee or originate special projects or programs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
• Partners with deans and educational leaders to develop procedures for implementation and CQI of processes used to administer GME programs.


• Works closely with program directors and coordinators to monitor adherence to procedures and deadlines and manages that data as it relates to accreditation standards.
• Provides assistance and feedback to program directors and coordinators regarding program self-studies and various applications.
• Oversees the use of technology in the delivery of GME programs including MedHub, other Software; functions as a Super User; and is one of the primary liaisons to such software companies.
• Contribute to complex problem solving and development of new operational initiatives.
• Performs financial transactions in SAP for management and accounting.
• Ensures GME compliance with all federal, state, BCM internal audit, and BCM Grants and contracts regulations.
• Lead GME's annual strategic planning for the department regarding operations and new program development.
• Facilitates regular staff meetings to provide information and training, promote professional effectiveness, and to review current practices and procedures.
• Develop and maintain confidential data sets and complex reports related to programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree.
• Required: Five years of relevant experience. Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.

• Preferred: Experience in a GME environment or other similar education environment.
