Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Li Lab seeks a highly motivated individual to join our effort to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie malignancy using emerging genomic techniques. Our group studies the stress response pathways and protein quality control mechanisms in development and longevity, and their dysregulation in diseases like neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. We utilize both animal and cellular models, and cutting edge technologies in functional genomics, bioinformatics, genetics, molecular and cell biology, and biochemistry.
Our group is located in a newly renovated lab space, and is a member of the rapidly growing Aging and Metabolism Research Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities will include:
- Mammalian cell culture
- Transfection and lentiviral transduction of mammalian cells
- Genetic screen using CRISPR/Cas9 system
- Plasmid construction and preparation
- Light and fluorescence microscopy
- Gene expression analyses (qRT-PCR, ChIP etc.)
- Detailed documentation of experiments and results
- Participation in lab and departmental meetings

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience.

Familiarity with basic lab techniques and experience in mammalian tissue culture. Ability to coordinate day-to-day work, and follow protocols to complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments. Ability to record detailed procedures and results. Familiarity with the internet and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills. Willingness to work collaboratively with others, as well as independently in areas of proficiency.

Minimum Degree Required:
Bachelors Degree

Work Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, but must be willing to work occasional overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, cancer biology and light microscopy lab techniques is preferred. Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in: transfection and/or infection of mammalian cells, broad knowledge of molecular biology techniques, advanced imaging for light and fluorescence microscopy, and good mathematical background.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
