Position Summary

The CIT Software program at CSN provides instruction in a verity of programming languages such as Java, C, C++, C#, Python, SQL, HTML, Javascript, and PHP, database platforms such as Oracle, MySQL, Access, and SQL Server, Project Management, and Microsoft Office products. The Instructor will teach courses primarily in programming; in addition to project management, digital literacy, and be actively involved in department leadership.

The teaching duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching assignments will primarily be courses that prepare students for programming using high-level programming languages, software development life cycle, systems analysis and design, databases, and project management.
• Teaching assignments may also include entry-level courses in programing and information management system that include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Assigned courses, days, times and/or locations may vary from semester to semester.
• Assignments may be any combination of classroom and online modes.
• Assignments may be located on any combination of CSN's several campuses.
• Assignments may be any combination of morning, afternoon and evening hours.
• Assignments may be any combination of any days of the week including weekends.
• Assignments may be any combination of courses for which instructor is qualified.

Leadership may include, but not be limited to, any of the following:

• Leader and/or membership in department and college-wide committees.
• Oversee course scheduling and teaching in one or more major subject areas.
• Oversee specialty lab areas and classrooms for one or more major subject areas.
• Collaborate with other CIT faculty in developing courses and selecting textbooks.
• Primary point-of-contact for specialty classroom at any of CSN's major campuses.
• Program management for one or more degrees and/or certificates.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• 18 graduate level credits in Programming or Information Technology courses.
• 2 years' experience teaching technical courses.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Master's or Doctorate degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Minimum two (2) years of industry and teaching experience in the areas of project management, business, IT systems development and software development.
• Industry certifications in languages such as Java and C++, databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, project management, or certifications in related computing fields.
• Experience teaching course content using a learning management system (i.e. Canvas, Blackboard, Angel)
• Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
• Quality Matters APPQMR certification

Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
