Job Description
The School of Architecture’s Career Services Director will plan and deliver comprehensive career services programming for students in professional architecture programs including resume and portfolio development, advising as to specific career paths within architecture, providing comprehensive information with respect to the path to licensure and registration, conducting searches for both short term and full time employment, and advising on alternative careers. Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers and alumni, plan on-campus career fairs and interview days, and participate in all aspects of recruitment. Teach students skills required for successful interviewing, follow up, salary negotiation, and all related matters, including becoming fluent in Handshake and LinkedIn. Participate in all-campus assessment activities as well as Architecture programming outcomes to ensure consistent and high quality programming.

Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree required, Masters degree preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic advising or career services advising required.

• Familiarity with the architecture field or related fields preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, alumni, faculty, administrators, and employers.

• Ability to think strategically and analytically with the ability to move items from vision to action is required.

• Ability to independently interpret and make recommendations for improvement in advising policy and procedure.

• Able to resolve conflict and easily offer resolution to situations of a sensitive nature with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population.

• Leadership, supervisory, and fiscal management experience required.

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have working knowledge of database management and relevant Career Services platforms such as Handshake and LinkedIn, is preferred.

Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and strategic direction for Career Services in the School of Architecture.

• Represent the School on internal SU career services councils, at on- and off campus recruitment events, and participate in related admissions and alumni events as needed.

• Advise senior administrative team on best practices, policy, and procedures in all matters related to delivery of high quality career services programming.

• Using platforms such as ‘Handshake’, ‘LinkedIn’, and other social media based platforms, as well as more traditional formats, develop and expand employer and alumni networks in support of student and alumni career development opportunities.

• Develop and strengthen relationships with current employers and expand the base of employers who currently recruit our students to include innovative leading firms.

• Develop and deliver training, counselling and advising programming for students at all levels, both undergraduate and graduate, to ensure that they are knowledgeable and skilled in all aspects of career planning, from career exploration, resume preparation, portfolio development, interview and negotiation skills, to the path to professional licensure, and potentially alternate career paths.

• Educate students on use of all platforms related to their career development

• Manage high-quality on campus recruitment programming to maximize opportunities for student success after graduation as well as during summer and short term internships.

• Ensure students are well prepared for on campus recruitment and provide required services to employers as well as students.

• Develop measurements to identify various areas of improvement and evaluate best practices.

• Implement modifications in procedures and practices that are identified through surveys and data analysis.

• Conduct annual salary surveys and surveys related to assessment.
