Job Description

Primary Function
Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member to teach history courses, advise students, review curricula, and serve as course coordinator. Teaching assignments include political science, American government or history relevant courses.

This 10-month position includes full benefits and is expected to begin Aug. 15. The starting salary is competitive, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Duties
Instruction
Is responsible for the creation and management of an environment conducive to the student's learning of credit course material
Teaches 30 credit hours per academic year or the equivalent for 10-month employees or 36 credit hours per fiscal year or the equivalent for 12-month employees (Student and Instructional Concerns)
Is responsible for the preparation and use of course syllabi and the recommendation of appropriate textbooks
Meets all scheduled learning experiences, including the final examination
Maintains student records
Posts and maintains scheduled office hours as required by the vice president for academic affairs, with provisions for meeting students by appointment
Submits copies of course syllabi, copies of tests and a copy of scheduled office hours to the vice president for academic affairs each semester
Submits attendance rosters, midterm grades, final grades and the names of day students who were absent five times and night students absent three times to the vice president for enrollment management and student services within the established time frame each semester
Contributes to the implementation of the annual course assessment process which may include developing/editing course objectives, means of assessment and benchmarks, collecting data, analyzing and reporting results, and creating and reporting progress on action plans for improvement
Department Support
Acts as academic advisor to students by providing advisement for educational programs
Assists the department head with the requisition of materials, supplies, textbooks and equipment necessary for effective classroom instruction
Assists with registration procedures
Attends departmental meetings and serves on appropriate departmental committees when assigned or elected
Participates in program and curriculum development and coordination;
Contributes to the program review
Works with professionals in his or her field of study and with the department's program advisory committee
Contributes to the annual and five-year comprehensive program review report for various phases of the assessment process
Professional Development
Attends faculty professional development activities as scheduled
Keeps current in his or her area of teaching expertise and in instructional methods by attending appropriate professional meetings, conferences or workshops, as well as through continued occupational experiences and literature research
Institutional Support
Attends all institutional meetings called by the dean, the vice president for academic affairs or the president and serves on institutional committees when assigned or elected
Participates in the peer evaluation of design skills
Attends graduation ceremonies
Performs other duties as assigned by the department head.
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in history, education, or other relevant field with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in history, political science, or American government
Preference will be given to candidates with three years of college teaching experience.
