Job Summary
Produces and manages highly complex domestic and international conference programs for both internal and external constituencies. Establishes and directs the actions of conference planning teams. Initiates and supervises the process of identifying programmatic, educational and financial goals and develops a tactical plan to achieve those goals. Monitors and evaluates planning process and makes adjustments as necessary to insure success. Creates conference policies, regulations, and guidelines. Manages conference-specific budgets in excess of $1.6 million annually, using that budget to inform critical planning decisions.

Plans and manages complex student and faculty international travel programs, domestic and international recruiting and alumni events, and conferences and events for the University gateway offices.

Establishes and maintains relationships with current and potential clients, including extensive contact with faculty on all IU campuses, campus and faculty leadership, and the leadership and governing bodies of national and international academic associations. Additionally, seeks out and establishes relationships with a wide range of vendors, both domestic and international, who provide services to the university.

Acts as the primary point of contact for much of the new business of the department. Develops and implements a marketing plan to continue new business for the organization. Counsels and coaches the other Senior Managers in their efforts to develop new business.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree, or related education and significant experience and five years experience in hospitality, marketing, conference management or directly related fields. Two years accounting experience.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, a customer service orientation and ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals within a diverse environment. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities.
