Position Summary
The Department of World Languages at UA Little Rock is accepting applications for a tenure track (nine-month) Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of World Languages. Field of specialization is open. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach a variety of courses in Spanish at the undergraduate level;
Advise and mentor students;
Participate in service activities in the program, college, university and the Little Rock community;
Maintain an active research agenda leading to academic publications;
Engage in outreach with the Latino Community in Little Rock;
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge/understanding of how technology is used in language instruction;
Evidence of significant potential for maintaining an effective research agenda is expected;
Knowledge of the ACTFL/CAEP Standards for the Preparation of Foreign Language Teachers;
Ability to work with a diverse campus community.
Required Education and/or Experience
A Ph.D. or DML and native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. ABD’s will be considered if all degree requirements are completed before employment commences in August 2019. A commitment to proficiency-based teaching and to student success initiatives, including mentoring and advising, are required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience
Application will be enhanced by demonstrating: A commitment to proficiency-based teaching in undergraduate courses; A commitment to teaching Spanish for the Professions; A commitment to offering a range of undergraduate courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats; and A commitment to working with a growing population of heritage learners.
