The following defines Instructor/Nurse Practitioner scope of duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Provides total nursing care to patients under the direction of a physician. Conducts physical examinations and evaluations. Prescribes, dispenses, and administers pharmaceutical treatments to patients. Gives patient care counsel and direction to nursing and other staff. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Provides preventative health care services to long-term patients and arranges consultations and referrals. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Education Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
Experience Required: No experience is required.
Certification/Licenses/ Registration Required: Current licensing as a Registered Nurse and as a WHCNP/FNP by the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas and certification by a recognized certified body for nurse and recognition by the Board of Nurse Examiners as a Nurse Practitioner.
Working Conditions: Generally, work is done in an office environment with pleasant working conditions. There is good lighting and ventilation, it is reasonably quiet, and the work hours are reasonably regular.
Physical Requirements: Rarely required to exert physical effort.
Physical Risk: Frequently handles/works with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
