Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

To support the mission and strategic priorities of the University, Information Technology Services (ITS) strives to meet the rapidly evolving technology needs of the University by providing current, reliable, and secure resources (hardware, software, and applications) while facilitating a great user experience

Primary Purpose of the Position:

This is analytical work in providing consultation, support and /or training for the business, research, and academic/instructional functions of customers. Employees may provide support for academic/instructional initiatives, hardware, applications, operating systems, and networking. This function requires a broad understanding of a variety of technologies to effectively support customers. These employees are not usually involved in application development or network design; but may participate in system integration, instructional media support and network analysis activities. This work requires particularly strong communication skills, an ability to interact effectively with a broad range of customers and an ability to use a variety of technical resources for providing this support. Employees at this level may provide routine and non-routine support for a broad range of technologies or provide in-depth support for a more narrowly-defined area of technology. These employees may be responsible for oversight of programs or projects.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A Master’s Degree with 2-4 years of experience in the information technology field, or a Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience in the information technology field.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
Web Support:

Performs advanced problem solving for web related projects. Updates and maintains the department’s website and provides support and training to web developers for individual unit websites while ensuring compliance with university web standards. Updates and maintains the university academic instruction system for online courses. Makes recommendations to management regarding web related purchases. Works with cross technical teams to develop and implement solutions to technical issues.

Specific activities may include:

Maintaining and administering the Content Management System
Ensuring web security
Adhering to Change Management standards
System analysis to continually improve or automate processes and workflows based on industry best practices;
Researching new and emerging web technologies and online tools that enhance online learning
Developing reports, interfaces, scripts, triggers or custom applications when needed using SharePoint 2016 .NET, HTML, CSS, Python, Java Scripting etc.
Ensuring web applications are functioning properly and readily accessible with high availability
Maintaining and administering the campus intranet
Maintaining and administering the online learning system and supports all users of the system
Ensuring web standards
Conducting training on the use of the internal portal,
Participating in pilot projects that enhance the online learning experience,
Verifying application backups are running properly by reviewing system reports and logs;
Managing projects or project tasks as assigned by management
