Position Summary

Mentoring and service programs create a sense of belonging, engage students with their community, benefit their personal and educational growth, and serve to provide a structure for academic success, especially for first-generation students. These programs create a direct link between CSN students and our business, non-profit and government communities and impacts economic development.

The Specialist for Mentoring and Service exists to provide high level of programmatic and customer service support for the mentoring and service programs to achieve set goals and objectives. The position will independently and collaboratively work within an exciting and rapidly evolving environment. Must meet strict deadlines for monthly and quarterly reports, ad hoc reports to inform project management planning meetings. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize between projects. Possess strong analytical and decision-making skills. The specialist must manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects/tasks in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining focus on organizational goals. Is expected to attend required training to support the program manager and coordinators with clerical and administrative tasks as assigned. Some travel between CSN campuses may be necessary for meetings and specific program data collection. The incumbent will work with a diverse student and employee population including all identities, ethnicities, cultures and national origins by coordinating services and providing guidance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 1 year of related professional work experience (event planning, event coordination, customer representative, recruitment or retention, business operations, higher administrative position).

• Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills.

• Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic, high volume customer service based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation.

• Flexible schedule: may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

• Direct experience with Higher Education programs.

• Demonstrated ability maintaining databases and reporting data updates.

• Applied knowledge of current software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and basic use of Adobe Suite.

• Experience conducting initial programmatic research, gather data, track activities, coordinate calendars, and follow up with internal and external contacts, to ensure effective and timely completion of activities.

• Demonstrated ability in locating, evaluating, and documenting reliable and credible sources in multiple formats. A proficient to mastery knowledge of MLA and APA formats and how to use various guides.

• Ability to adapt to rapid change and respond to tight deadlines on a variety of tasks.

• Experience assisting in the development and implementation of activities. This includes day-to-day office operations, logistics, calendaring, contacting participants, setup and overall organizational activities for program participants.

• Experience issuing communications in various software platforms for internal and external partners.
