The Senior Scientist is responsible for developing techniques to grow and characterize anaerobic bacteria to support the development of point-of-care diagnostic assays. Additionally, the Senior Scientist will serve as a subject matter expert on bacteria, particularly as it relates to the development of a lateral flow immunoassay targeting oral bacteria, and provide technical assistance on how to better assay this bacteria in a low complexity point-of-care test. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of anaerobic bacteria culturing and characterization as well as bacteria biology. The candidate should be well skilled with a variety of bacteria quantitation techniques, viability assays, and other microbiology techniques. The candidate should have either an MS degree with 5 to 10 years of direct experience or a PhD in microbiology.
