COUN 247-01 - Theory and Practice of Couples Counseling

February 13, 2019 - May 22, 2019, Wednesday, 4:30pm-6:30pm

This two (2)-unit course applies the concepts and skills of the Human Resources Development (HRD) model in a couples setting and discusses clinical theories, concepts, and interventions required to work with couples. Simulated experiential practice, live and video demonstrations, personal processing reading responses, clinical assignments, student demonstrations and presentations, and a final paper are the primary methods used for instruction. Personal relationship patterns and students’ counter-transference issues that may impact work with couples are emphasized.
