The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering seeks an energetic, innovative individual to fulfill the role of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will recruit, retain, and place students in high demand at top tier employers and attract industry financial support by developing and implementing marketing strategies.

The incumbent will significantly increase student recruitment, retention, and engagement by developing and implementing marketing strategies including but not limited to national media presence, department events, and student-focused programs. The successful candidate will coordinate accreditation compliance, develop and implement consistent messaging, and use benchmarking and best practices to develop department policies and procedures. The Program Coordinator represents the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at college and university meetings as well as regional and national events. The successful candidate will serve as advisor for Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Systems Technology, and some Precision Agriculture students from their second year onward. Some travel will be required that may include overnight stays.

1) An earned Master’s degree by appointment date in field related to Agriculture, Biological Science, Engineering, Public Administration, Business, or Student Development.
2) Advanced interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Must be highly skilled in critical thinking, information gathering, data collection, and analysis.
3) At least one year of experience with one or more areas of agriculture production, agriculture science, engineering, or technology, or the ability to continuously learn these areas.
4) Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
5) Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

1) Familiarity with South Dakota Board of Regents and South Dakota State University policies and procedures.
2) Experience developing and coordinating events and programs.
3) Experience developing and implementing marketing materials and strategies. Experience with curriculum management.
4) Experience advising university students.
5) Experience working with diverse populations.
