Posting Summary
Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School, is seeking a Laboratory Manager for the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine, to coordinate the work and activities of two NIH funded laboratories. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Lab Manager will assign and supervise work of the postdoctoral fellows and technicians. These duties include physiological, biomedical, and molecular studies, as well as ordering supplies and equipment. In addition, the Lab Manager will help with IACUC protocols, lab safety monitoring, manuscripts and grant applications.

Leads the grant development process in support of Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators; monitors deadlines pertaining to grant submissions and edits, formats, and proofreads drafts in a timely manner.
Organizes and analyzes scientific data from multiple sources; oversees and prepares figures for submission.
Serves as a project manager for conversion of research data to an integrated database.
Oversees the preparation of manuscripts, including preparing, editing, and submitting manuscripts and abstracts.
Manages workflow for the consulting editor of peer-reviewed journals; serves as a liaison between consulting editor, reviewers, and journal staff.
Oversees IACUC and IRB protocols; ensures IACUC annual renewals and amendments are submitted and tracked; designs flow charts to concisely depict experimental designs.
Supervises Postdoctoral Fellows and Technicians, including training and assigning work.
Orders supplies and equipment; monitors and ensures continued laboratory safety.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in a relevant science with at least 5 years of laboratory experience with a strong background in molecular biology.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills and the ability to function in a team environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
Must be available to work flexible hours on short notice, including overtime and some weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD Degree preferred, but not essential.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position involves prolonged standing, walking and sitting. Hearing and speech capabilities necessary to communicate with other researchers and staff in person, on the telephone and by e-mail. Vision capable of viewing computer monitors, charts, forms, text and numbers for prolonged periods. Ability to lift or exert up to 25 lbs.
