What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Product Design Engineer.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Creating, modifying, and reviewing PCB Library parts within a Siemens Engineering Data Management (EDM) configuration management system and ensuring parts meet IPC and internal engineering standards
- Creating and reviewing complex and specialized PCB Library Parts per commercial product and project engineer specifications
- Releasing parts into the Siemens EDM server configuration management system and running cache updates (EDM Cockpit, EDM Library, sandbox)
- Validating parts in DxDesigner and Xpedition layout and ensuring part elements (cells, padstacks, symbols, metadata) comply with IPC-7531 and internal engineering standards
- Identifying and attaching 3D models to library parts
- Negotiating library part requirements with project engineers, ensuring part data sheets are correct and PCB design staff and assisting them in utilizing the library part request system, ensuring requests have required information
- Assisting in managing and revising internal PCB Part Library Engineering Standards
- Resolving PCB Library part issues with project engineers, PCB design staff, and PCB manufacturers
- Collaborating with fellow ECAD Library staff in peer review and part request coordination
- Advising ECAD management on potential improvements to ECAD operations
- Directing earlier career library staff in completing library part requests
- Teaching formally and informally the PCB Library Part Creation and Processes
- Working with the PCB Design, ECAD Library, and ECAD Infrastructure personnel in all phases of the PCB product realization process to identify and implement improvements to meet new or changing needs
Salary Range:
$95,400 - $185,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technologist, Electrical Engineering or similar plus 5 years of relevant work experience or Associated Degree and at least 9 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience using electrical computer aided design (CAD) software (aka Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design software) for PCB Library parts.
- Ability to read and understand PCB specifications, diagrams, and bill of materials, and knowledge of electrical component categories, parameters, and reference designators.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain a DOE Q level security clearance.

About Our Team:
The Electrical Design Group is responsible for providing knowledgeable and capable resources to develop and create PCB and flex cable product definition in support of our nation’s security programs. We partner with engineering teams across the lab to produce innovative solutions. We communicate PCB and flex cable design options and recommended approaches to product development teams, stakeholders, and manufacturing partners. The department's primary capabilities include schematic capture and physical layout of PCBs and flex cables, interacting with vendors to procure quick turn prototype circuit boards, and design for manufacturing (DFM) and signal integrity analysis of PCB designs.
