Job Summary
The Office of Information Technology at UT Arlington provides premier solutions and support to our Maverick Community. We are a team of highly skilled professionals who approach our work with pride, respect and a shared sense of community.

The System Administrator I position will be responsible for assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and support relating to the University Cloud environment and on-premise virtual infrastructure.

The position will assist in general production support, environment optimization, and monitoring of various functional areas for SLA/billing/reporting metrics. Furthermore, the position will also be responsible for providing support to Platform Operations team, Infrastructure and Operations teams, and other customers in various departments throughout the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.
Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware
Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.
Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.

Required Qualifications
Associates degree in information technology, computer science, or applicable field, or one (1) year of recent full-time experience, or Azure Fundamentals certification (AZ-900).

Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications related to the duties and responsibilities specified like Azure Administration.
Experience addressing hardware evaluations, operating systems, technical support, business continuity, disaster recovery, incident management, incident response and recovery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to accurately define incidents, problems, and events in the trouble ticketing system.
Ability to monitor measures or indicators of system performance and availability.
Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup).
Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
Knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability.
Knowledge of performance tuning tools and techniques.
Knowledge of server and client operating systems.
Knowledge of systems administration concepts.
Skill in interfacing with customers.
Skill in troubleshooting failed system components (i.e., servers)
Skill in identifying and anticipating system/server performance, availability, capacity, or configuration problems.

Other Requirements for Eligibility:
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Non-U.S. persons selected must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-restricted information.
