Job Function:

Coordinate and perform activities related to processing materials borrowed for Interlibrary Loan users; communicate with other institutions regarding items on loan and overdue; assist Interlibrary Loan users in person and remotely; support an inclusive, diverse, and collaborative work environment and service culture to advance the strategic direction of the University Libraries.

Minimum Education:

Associate's degree or equivalent in library science, business, or related field.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Experience:

Over three months to one year of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

One or more years of experience in a library setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming borrowed Interlibrary Loan materials to ensure accuracy and timely availability to users; open, receive, and verify materials and condition, following special instructions; record due dates, notify library users of arrival, and use appropriate tracking software.
  • Process Interlibrary Loan returns; verify materials, condition, and special instructions in preparation for mailing.
  • Verify and process incoming electronic articles and process document delivery requests as needed, following appropriate copyright compliance guidelines.
  • Monitor overdue items on loan to other institutions, including communicating with other agencies.
  • Train and monitor student assistants in the performance of area work assignments and job duties.
  • Provide Interlibrary Loan and information services to users in person and remotely.
  • Maintain current knowledge of systems and software used in Interlibrary Loan; verify requests for borrowing materials.
  • Perform duties of other Interlibrary Loan staff as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
