The Office of Immigration Services (OIS) has an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Immigration Analyst to join our team. The OIS office at OUHSC provides legal and strategic U.S. immigration counsel to the OUHSC and OU-Tulsa campus communities; drives immigration compliance, and supports the immigration needs of international employees and their families. Reporting to the Office of Immigration Services Director & Immigration Attorney, the Senior Immigration Analyst serves as a contact to assist the campus community with complex immigration matters. As a Senior Immigration Analyst, you will be passionate about employee engagement, intensifying and solving complex immigration problems, and helping the University achieve strategic goals by bringing the best and brightest international faculty, staff, and scholars to OUHSC and OU-Tulsa.

Duties:  

  • Assists the Director in filing employment based H-1B non-immigrant petitions on behalf of the University.
  • Maintains H-1B public access files.
  • Ensures timely and accurate filing of all required documentation for employment based petitions to USCIS
  • Works with school point of contact to determine filling strategy.
  • Advises international faculty and scholars on immigration status.
  • Ensures Federal immigration compliance through understanding of and adherence to all applicable federal visa and labor regulations, as well as, University policy.
  • Maintains detailed and organized files on all casework.
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of data in administrative databases including but not limited to the creation of new immigration files, timely updates of data in the system, and note taking.
  • Interprets and advises on complex United States immigration laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to international faculty and scholars support by OUHSC and contracted OU system schools.
  • Informs University administrators about University policies and procedures that ensure ongoing compliance with immigration regulations
  • Works closely with leadership to ensure proper understanding of the application of immigration regulations in University policies, taking appropriate initiative, and exercise discretion within the scope of assigned duties
  • Serves as a resource and proactively reaches out to academic departments to support international faculty and scholars
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues on the development of training workshops/information sessions on issues pertaining to international faculty scholars.
  • Serves on internal committees and participate in work groups to support the mission of the University.
  • Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer for the University's exchange visitor program.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

 

 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 36 months of professional experience handling immigration casework

Equivalent/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s Degree for a total of 84 months experience. 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of H-1B rules & regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to be diplomatic, composed, and proactive in varied interactions
  • Exemplary cross-cultural communication skills

Preferences:

  • Experience filing or preparing H-1B petitions
  • Master’s or Juris Doctor Degree.
  • Proficient in foreign languages

Additional Requirements:  Must be a Lawful Permanent Resident or US Citizen to serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer.
